SOCIOLINGUISTIC DIFFICULTIES OF SPEAKING ENGLISH IN MUMUYE COMMUNITY OF ZING LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA TARABA STATE

ABSTRACTS

The research is design to investigate the Sociolinguistic difficulties of speaking English in Mumuye Community in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State.

          In light of the above, chapter one introduces the problems, purpose of the study and its significance. Also featured are basic assumption, delimitation and limitation of the Project.

          The view of related literature covered some selected primary and secondary schools and two wards of the Local Government Area.

During the research finding random interviews of respondents became the tool for assessment and documentation of results.  

All the operational process of other chapters combined together culminated into the revelation of some  finding as the fowling:-

Poor English environment is responsible for poor performance of students in various subject areas.

          The fact that students do not speak English fluently, it invariably denotes that they cannot read and write good English, thereby giving rise to multilingualism in the community in Zing. The recommendation given so far will go a long way in reducing the scourge of Multilingualism in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State.
